There
we were on a Saturday night, enjoying the evening with a
dozen or so of our good friends from Dance Discovery, at a
charity dinner-dance at the Colombo Hall. We’d enjoyed a
good dinner, and the dancing was underway. We’d danced a
Foxy, then a Jive, sat down for a while, hopped up again for
a Cha-Cha, and were well into a Mambo when we felt a tap on
our shoulders. Was somebody cutting in?? No. There stood a
good-looking young man with an envelope in his hand.
“Congratulations!” he said, “You’ve been judged the best
dancers on the floor.” Well. Wow! What a boost to the
self-esteem!
We know we’re not the best dancers at our school. Neither of
us is tall, slim, young, or naturally elegant. But when
we’re dancing, we are having FUN, and apparently that shows.
The prize was two gift cards for Starbucks. We look forward
to enjoying each other’s company on a little outing there.
Besides exercising our bodies and minds, our lessons and
involvement at Dance Discovery have strengthened our
marriage, enhanced our emotional well-being, and given us a
social circle of happy couples to go dancing and adventuring
with. Good times!
